Award-winning promoter Peter Maniatis of Australia will come to the Philippines on July 22nd to scout for more boxers with raw potential whom he can bring to Australia and personally check out ward Randy “Razor” Petalocorin’s (13-1, 12 KOs) performance in the latter’s upcoming fight on August 6th at the Cebu City Coliseum, Cebu City. Petalcorin will figure in the undercard of the Dodie Boy Penalosa – TBA fight, promoted by GerryPens Promotions. The General Santos City native will square off against Michael Rodriguez for the interim PABA light flyweight title.

Peter Maniatis, Four-time Australia Fight Promoter of the Year

“Randy is the whole package,” Maniatis told this writer. “He has power and youth. It’s just a matter of polishing him before he becomes a world contender.”

“He needs to really perform well in his fight against Rodriguez,” Maniatis added. “It will be a big letdown if he were to lose, but that’s I believe that far from happening.”

Petalcorin was supposed to go to Australia in August for his international fight debut but passport issues derailed the the power-punching light flyweight plans. Not wanting to keep Petalcorin at the sidelines, Maniatis sought a way to get his ward a fight. The four-time Australia Fight Promoter of the Year is grateful that two-time world champion Gerry Penalosa, owner of GerryPens Promotions, for giving Petalcorin a spot in the undercard.

“I really thank Gerry for granting my request to put Petalcorin in his event. He’s a real gentleman and I really hope we can do a co-promotion in the future.”
