Cebu City, Philippines – The stage is set for tonight’s seventh installment of the Pinoy Pride series.

A crucial fight for both fighters’ career, AJ “Bazooka” Banal (24-1-1, 19 KOs) and Tyson “Prince of Hali” Cave (15-1, 5 KOs) understands that a win over the other will forward one’s career. At stake is Banal’s WBO Asia-Pacific bantamweight crown. But there is so much more on the line than just a glittering belt

For Banal, a victory could mean a potential rematch with Rafael Concepcion, the only fighter to deal the Filipino’s only career loss, and an inch closer to a world title shot. A win for Cave would garner the Canadian a huge name under his belt and significantly increase his stock value in the boxing world. Not to mention serious bragging rights.

"Props to Tyson Cave for facing someone legit." - A Canadian fan

Comments from boxing fans from Canada reached this writer and their thoughts on the fight and about their fellow Canuck vary greatly. Some say Cave is a mere showboat who is asking for a lot of trouble. Others believe Cave is the next Prince Naseem Hamed (which this writer thinks to be more than a stretch).

“Cave’s work ethic is his down fall,” said a certain Jonah Levrone. “He drinks, smokes and lets his ego call the shots inside and outside of the ring. “

“Fortunately for Cave he has a tremendous amount of raw talent,” Levrone added.

Another fan commented that Cave has “raw talent as an entertainer maybe because he knows how to hype things up and does some entertaining/funny stuff in the ring to get the crowd going.”

Terry McDevit, another commenter, said that “AJ might be good but he ain’t never dealt with a true thug like Tyson. Tyson been fighting on the streets for years and is too smart.”

But for one Canadian commenter named Dom, he believes that credit should be given to Tyson for facing Banal.

“I give it to Cave though for stepping up and facing someone legit.”

Pinoy Pride 7: Battle at Mactan is going to be held at the Hoops Dome, Lapu-Lapu City, Philippines. TV telecast will be aired on ABS-CBN on July 31st, 2011, at 10:30AM.
