Rodel Mayol is showing how desperate he is to win another title as they flew to Mexico despite not having a fight contract as of this time.

Mayol is scheduled to fight reigning champion Juan Carlos Sanchez for the International Boxing Federation super flyweight title on September 22 in Sinaloa, Mexico.

However IBF has yet to sanction the bout because no fight contract has been submitted, but Mayol is still hoping that their fight will officially be sanctioned soon.

In an interview with Winchell Campos of PhilBoxing.com, Mayol said: “Bahala na, kuya, lalabanan na namin ito at sana maibigay na nila ang kontrata sa lalong madaling panahon,”

Team Mayol member Raides “Nonoy” Neri voiced out his frustration as well, saying that the former World Boxing Council light flyweight champion is not getting any younger and that is the reason why they will move heaven and earth to earn a title shot.

“Hindi na bumabata si Rodel. Kailangan na niya maging champion ulit,” Neri said.

Earlier this year, Mayol was supposed to challenge World Boxing Association flyweight champion Hernan “Tyson” Marquez in Mexico, but the fight did not pushed through when Mayol’s camp declined to fight after the champion failed to make the weight limit. For failing to hit the weight limit, Marquez should have been stripped off his title, but curiously, WBA did not forced him to surrender his belt.

The native of Mandaue City is coming off a unanimous decision win over Julio Cesar Miranda last May, while Sanchez defeated Juan Alberto Rosas via unanimous decision last May as well, three months before escaping with a controversial win Rodrigo Guerrero that gave him the title.
