Nonito Donaire finally sealed a deal to face Mexican warrior Jorge Arce on December 15 in Houston.

While the fight has not been officially announced, Top Rank promoter confirmed that the deal has been signed with the Donaire-Arce bout as the main event at the Toyota Center in the fight card that will also feature Guillermo Rigondeaux in one of the undercards.

Arum said: “It’s a big, big fight. Everybody wants to see Donaire face a gutty guy like Arce, who will bring the fight to him and who is not going to quit. It’s going to be a really entertaining fight, and I can’t wait to see it.”

The Donaire-Arce bout was previously rumored to take place in Mexico City, but the fight was almost cancelled out after the Filipino Flash claimed that Arce is asking for too much money. Donaire was once quoted: “They keep on demanding everything. I have the belt and yet they’re still demanding?”

On the other hand, Arce said: “I would be happy to take that fight but I hope I get the price I’m asking for. I’m not asking for the pearls of the virgin. I’m demanding just what I think the fight is worth. He has never faced a fighter of my qualities. He has never faced anybody with guts, heart. Knock me down and I get up. I have never given up and have no respect for him.”

The Filipino champion is coming off an impressive win over Japanese veteran Toshiaki Nishioka, whom he knocked out in the ninth round of their highly-publicized showdown last month.

The 33-year-old Arce, who is coming off a unanimous decision win over Mauricio Martinez in a featherweight bout last September, holds an impressive 61-6-2 record with 46 of his victories coming by way of knockout.
