Prince Albert Pagara successfully protected his unblemished record after scoring a scintillating win in the main event of the ALA-Cobra Tunay na Lakas Fight Card at the Gaisano Country Mall in Cebu.

The young and promising prospect was simply too much for his opponent as he handily knocked out Jilo Merlin in the third round of the fight card arrange in line with the Sinulog festivities.

Pagara, who came into the match as a heavy favorite, proved why boxing experts are high on him as he pounded Merlin with crumbling hooks both to the body and head. Merlin was obviously struggling to take Pagara’s powerful punches and in the third round, the 18-year-old Cebuano landed vicious hooks to Merlin’s abdomen that sent the Benguet native down the canvass.

Merlin, who absorbed another devastating defeat, tried to get up after the powerful punches from Pagara, but he failed to beat the ten count to the delight of the Cebuano fans in the venue.

With the win, Pagara improved his record to 15-0 with 11 Knockouts, while Merlin dropped to 12-15-2 with only two wins via stoppage.

Meanwhile, Jerson Mancio emerged victorious in a grueling ten-round bout against Gerpaul Valero in the main undercard of the Sinulog fight card.

Relying on his superb body-punching techniques to avoid the vaunted counter-punching style of his opponent, Mancio controlled the tempo of the fight, but Valero managed to stand toe-to-toe with him for the entire match. But in the end, Mancio scored a close unanimous decision win: 96-94, 96-94, and 97-93.

Mancio, the reigning Philippine light flyweight champion, ended the 12-fight winning run of Valero, while improving his own record to 17 wins, three defeats and three draws with seven KO victories.

The fight card, which was organized by ALA promotion in cooperation with GAB-Cebu led by Glen Agena and Celso Miranda, is a free-the-public fight card that was graced by several known Filipino boxers like WBO light flyweight champion Donnie Nietes.
