Milan Melindo finally got a confirmation from Top Rank Promotions that he will be featured in the blockbuster fight card on April 6 in Macau that will be broadcasted by giant network ABS-CBN.

The reigning World Boxing Organization flyweight champion will collide with Tommy Seran, who is the top-ranked flyweight in Indonesia and is the current holder of the WBO Asia Pacific light flyweight interim title.

The 24-year-old Melindo is coming of an impressive decision victory over Jean Piero Perez last September 22, which gave him the international title and the right to face WBO flyweight champion Brian Viloria, who also holds the World Boxing Association flyweight title.

Since Melindo and Viloria are hesitant to fight each other in an All-Filipino title clash, the undefeated mandatory challenger allowed Viloria to defend his title against Juan Francisco Estrada.

If Melindo successfully hurdles his next challenge, he will be pitted against the winner of Viloria vs Estrada title fight that will also take place on April 6 in the same Macau fight card.

In a recent interview with Sun Star Cebu, ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer said: “If Milan wins his next fight, it should be for the world title as Milan was supposedly the mandatory challenger of Brian in 90 days but as a fellow Filipino, Milan allowed Brian to defend his title one more time. Milan’s next fight should be against the winner of Viloria-Estrada.”

Melindo currently holds an impressive 28-0 record with 11 knockouts, while the 29-year-old Seran carries a 23-1 card with 14 stoppage victories.

Meanwhile, the Pinoy Pride XVIII: World Champion vs World Champion fight card is expected to feature slam-bang boxing affairs with an added touch of glamour because a boxing legend is set to grace the event.

Aldeguer revealed that Zanfer Promotions confirmed that former boxing champion and future Hall of Famer Marco Antonio Barrera will visit Cebu to support his boxer Moises Fuentes, the reigning WBO mini-flyweight champion.

Fuentes will face Filipino champion Donnie Nietes, who will out his WBO flyweight title on the line on March 2 at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino in Cebu.

Aldeguer said: “Marco Antonio Barrera will be coming and it has been confirmed by Zanfer Promotions. Marco sent his passport already and his tentative date of arrival is Feb. 28. Our travel coordinator is working on his ticket.”

Aside from the Nietes vs Fuentes title showdown, promising young gun Genesis Servania and former world title contender Jimrex Jaca will be featured in the fight card that was organized by ALA Promotions in cooperation with Zanfer Promotions and TV broadcaster ABS-CBN.
